Dengue fever, also known as “breakbone fever” because of the very severe physical pain it can cause, is a virus transmitted to humans via the bite of an Aedes mosquito. This Dengue NS1 Antigen Test Kit contains 3x Dengue rapid tests and all required accessories to enable a traveller to self-test for the dengue virus without the need to attend a clinical facility. Dengue is rarely fatal but there is an elevated risk of death from a repeat infection, and also amongst children under 5 years of age and the elderly.

For use outside of a clinic environment to (self) test anyone who is travelling or has recently travelled within a dengue virus endemic area and begins to suffer from the onset of any dengue-like symptoms such as:  high fever (40°C/104°F), severe headache, pain behind the eyes, severe muscle & joint pains, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands, rash.

There are no specific treatments available for Dengue Fever other than standard pain relief medications. However in the case of severe illness always seek medical consultation, especially if a repeat infection is suspected.

These Dengue NS1 Antigen tests will detect and positively indicate the dengue virus infection as soon as the onset of fever symptoms begins. The alternative type of dengue test is an antibody test. Antibodies are produced by the human body in response to the infection but are not usually detectable until 3-8 days after the onset of fever. Therefore be careful what type of dengue test you purchase.
